My favorite Vietnamese place wasn’t open and it would take too long to get to the good Mexican joint and so I reluctantly stopped at Taco Bell in a sketchy part of town because I was starving. A cop came in and poked around, asking if anybody in the restaurant had just been shot. Uh, no, but thanks for asking. At least 8 cop cars in addition to the fire trucks and ambulance(s).
Just another beautiful night in South City...

Tell me about it - t hey all left St Louis just before I moved here. I did stop in at one, as well as Yoshinoya, when I visited California at the beginning of the month. Despite the good meals I had, both at nice restaurants and at my folk’s place, I had to stop in for some old fast food favorites that I can’t get here in STL.

And this is why I am content living where I do.
Never once have I been asked if I have been shot.
On the downside? It’s gonna be a very literal war zone with nothing but shootings next election.

I generally try to avoid this neighborhood after dark, but today I broke that rule and was quickly reminded of why I had that rule in place. They probably don’t have shootings every day, but often enough that I wasn’t surprised in the least by what I saw...
